Grab your binoculars and see how many wild birds you can spot and identify while working toward earning your Bird Study merit badge! Our certified BSA merit badge counselor and Park Naturalist, along with expert birders, will assist Scouts in properly using binoculars, choosing and using field guides, and recognizing bird field marks. Dress for the weather as some of this program is outside.
Non-Scouts of both genders are welcome.
Recommended age level: Grades 6-12.
Fee: $10/participant (chaperones are free). ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY DEC. 15.
Prepare in advance: Read the Bird Study merit badge book; identify at least 10 native wild birds and record them in your Bird Study merit badge workbook.
Bring: Bird Study merit badge book and workbook with at least 10 native wild birds identified and recorded; blue Application for Merit Badge card; binoculars, if you have them.
