Bicyclists, join Friends of the Vandalia Trail for weekly bicycle rides along the Vandalia Trail!
From April 16 through September, the Friends of the Vandalia Trail host weekly Tuesday evening (6 p.m.) bike rides along the trail for riders of all skill levels. They alternate between our section of the trail and the section that is operated by our friends with Plainfield Parks & Recreation.
From the Amo trailhead on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesdays of each month, enjoy the countryside and small towns while riding the newly paved Vandalia Trail from Amo through Coatesville to the Hendricks-Putnam County Line, and then the packed stone Vandalia Trail to Fillmore, and possibly to Greencastle, depending ont he group. The longest round trip is 23 miles.
From the south side of Plainfield’s Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, ride the paved Vandalia Trail and other connecting trails on a nice trail loop around town. A round trip on the Vandalia Trail plus the town loop is about 15 miles. (This is the section of the Vandalia Trail that is operated by Plainfield Parks & Recreation.)
