There was a private McCloud Park in the same location in the 1930’s\, and evidence can still be seen along some of the trails. Learn how the current McCloud Nature Park came to be with a Hendricks County Park naturalist.

It takes about 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup after boiling. Enjoy legends on how maple syrup was discovered by the Native Americans. Be sure to join us for Maple Syrup Days and the Pancake Breakfast Fundraisers on the first two Saturdays of March at McCloud Nature Park!

Their adaptations help them complete their jobs most effectively. On land\, a beaver’s movements are extremely awkward\, making them vulnerable to predators. In water\, however\, beavers can swim up to 6 mph and they stay underwater for up to 15 minutes\, all which help beavers evade terrestrial predators. A naturalist will bring props to showcase this fascinating animal.
