SUMMARY:VIRTUAL Animal Tales: Bat Loves the Night
DESCRIPTION:Normally\, our Park Naturalists come to your local library each month to share a story about a native animal and a related craft or activity with preschool through upper elementary age children. This program is FREE to attend. \nHowever\, because of the COVID-19 pandemic\, we are doing a virtual Animal Tales program this month. \nYou can access these virtual materials through Facebook by clicking here. \nMay’s story is Bat Loves the Night by Nicola Davies. \nNight has fallen\, and Bat awakens to find her evening meal. Follow her as she swoops into the shadows\, shouting and flying\, the echoes of her voice creating a sound picture of the world around her. When morning light creeps into the sky\, Bat returns to the roost to feed her baby . . . and to rest until nighttime comes again. Bat loves the night!

SUMMARY:Virtual Animal Tales: Snails
DESCRIPTION:Normally our park naturalists come to your local library each month to share a story about a native animal and a related craft or activity with preschool through upper elementary age children. This program is FREE to attend. \nToday we are offering this program online since no local libraries are offering in-person programming right now\, and anyone can join in! These resources are available at any time since this is not a live program. \nClick here and you will find a video where Assistant Naturalist Joe Lembo gives a brief talk about snails and demonstrates the craft. You can also find the craft templates. Share a picture of your craft! \nBe sure to check out the links about snails and other related information. \nWe were going to read this book in-person: Snail Trail by Ruth Brown. You are welcome to read this book at the McCloud Nature Center. Other similar books may be suggested\, too\, with information on how to access these online through your local library. \nSummary of Snail Trail: \nJoin Slimy Snail on an adventure that takes him around the backyard and brings him face-to-face with all sorts of obstacles: up a hill (very steep!)\, over a bridge (very high!)\, and down a slope (very slippery!). Here’s a snail’s-eye view of the backyard and a picture story that introduces the youngest readers to simple directional concepts – and ends with a clever visual surprise! \nTo view the entire Animal Tales schedule\, visit:\nhttps://hendrickscountyparks.org/programs/animal-tales-library-programs/
