During this event\, you will learn to spot invasive plants escaping into natural areas and to select the best native plants for your home landscape. \n\nThis is outside and will be canceled if there are thunderstorms in the area.\nClosed toe shoes and long pants are recommended.\nThe Nature Center and restrooms are closed so please plan ahead.\nThis is limited to the first 25 people to show up. Wear comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots. We welcome new geocaches that are approved on our properties! \nVisit with other geocachers while learning about the new application process to hide caches on Hendricks County Park properties. New to geocaching and want to learn more? Learn tips from other geocachers at this informal meeting! DESCRIPTION:Normally our park naturalists come to your local library each month to share a story about a native animal and a related craft or activity with preschool through upper elementary age children. This program is FREE to attend. \nToday we are offering this program online since no local libraries are offering in-person programming right now\, and anyone can join in! These resources are available at any time since this is not a live program. \nClick here and you will find a video where Assistant Naturalist Joe Lembo gives a brief talk about snails and demonstrates the craft. You can also find the craft templates. Share a picture of your craft! \nBe sure to check out the links about snails and other related information. \nWe were going to read this book in-person: Snail Trail by Ruth Brown. You are welcome to read this book at the McCloud Nature Center. DESCRIPTION:Join Camptown at McCloud Nature Park for a morning of learning outdoor fun! You can protect our natural areas by learning low-impact techniques. In this awareness workshop\, you will learn the seven principles of Leave No Trace and practical skills to put into practice to minimize your impact on the wilderness areas that you visit. \nThis workshop is designed for adults and families with children over the age of 8. DESCRIPTION:From June 6-14\, 2020\, the Indiana Children & Nature Network is encouraging groups across the state to make a special effort to get kids outside by holding a Nature Play Day event. These events can be anything from broad partnership\, multi-day community events to a simple guided hike\, loose parts play\, or a meet-up at a playground. Large or small\, free play or department led\, the goal of Nature Play Days is to get kids outside and remind families that nature play is important and can happen close to home. \nDon’t forget to bring your Nature Play Days passport to our events! All of our Nature Play Days events earns a sticker or stamp for kids’ passports. \nChildren under the age of 16 must attend with a parent or guardian\, as these are not drop-off programs. For any weather-related concerns\, please call our Weather Hotline at (317) 718-6111.
