Join Us for Nature Play Days in June!
From June 5-13, 2021, the Indiana Children and Nature Network is encouraging families across the state to make a special effort to get kids outside by holding Nature Play Day events. These mostly free events range from nature games, picnics, creek stomps, and kite-flying. The goal of Nature Play Days is to get kids outside and remind families that nature play is important and can happen close to home. To find a Nature Play Day near you, visit www.IndianaChildrenandNature.org.
Due to COVID-19, we will not be issuing Nature Play Days passports this year.
Children under the age of 16 must attend with a parent or guardian, as these are not drop-off programs. For any weather-related concerns, please call our Weather Hotline at (317) 718-6111.
This Nature Play Days program may be hands-off, but it’s not hands-free! You’ll need a riddle sheet and pencil from the McCloud Nature Center to help you find the way to animal signs hidden on our trails. Usually, letterboxing involves stamps and ink pads, but this hands-off version means that you can draw the animal or write its name to prove that you found the letterbox. Find them all and win a small prize!
Hiking terrain info: easy to moderate difficulty, natural surfaces, up to 2 miles.
RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 7 THROUGH ADULT.
FREE TO ATTEND.
NO ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
APPROXIMATE PROGRAM DURATION: 2 HOURS (ONGOING).
