April 8, 2024 will provide a rare opportunity to view a total solar eclipse in Central Indiana! Join us for this special event!
For the first time in more than 800 years, Central Indiana will be able to view a total solar eclipse! On April 8, 2024, the moon will pass in between the Earth and the sun, and the celestial phenomenon will be visible in our area for the first time since 1205 A.D.!
We will be celebrating with a special program at W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park on April 8 beginning at 11:30 a.m., and then we welcome everyone to stay to watch the eclipse with us! Find your favorite spot in the park and enjoy the show!
We will even have FREE certified eye protection glasses that meet ISO 12312-2:2015 standards for the first 750 park guests that day!
While we won’t be holding a program at McCloud Nature Park, you’re welcome to view the total solar eclipse there, too. Stop by the McCloud Nature Center and grab one of the 250 FREE sets of certified eye protection glasses that we’ll have available while supplies last!
