What Does the Bird Say?

You can’t see the bird, but you can hear it. Maybe birds are just beginning to pique your interest, and “birding” sounds too scientific for you. Join a naturalist and Roger Hedge, retired Indiana DNR ecologist, for a gateway into learning about birds: mnemonics.  Say what?! “Nuh·maa·nuhks.” Bird mnemonics are the memory phrases that many birders use to help them remember the songs of different bird species. We’ll learn about bird communication, bird sounds, resources for learning bird songs, practice identifying birds at the park through listening, and…learn some bird mnemonics to introduce you to our backyard neighbors.
