Join us at McCloud Nature Park on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as we celebrate the park’s 15th Anniversary!
McCloud Nature Park opened to the public on May 3, 2003, and we are celebrating its Crystal Anniversary with a day-long festival at the park. Bring the entire family out to McCloud for this FREE celebration and enjoy presentations, demonstrations, and activities that honor McCloud Nature Park’s past, present, and future.
Scheduled activities:
- Explore the IUPUI Center for Earth & Environmental Science Mobile STEM Program
- Antique tractors on display, courtesy of the Hendricks County Antique Tractor & Machinery Association
- Yard games with Danville Parks & Recreation and Brownsburg Parks & Recreation
- Face painting with Rachel Davis of The Purple Palette (face painting ends at 2 p.m.)
- Food available for purchase through The Kickstand and The Ice Barn
- Guided hikes to McCloud’s many points of interest
- Letterboxing with special commemorative prizes for those who complete the course
- Take a walk across the Bridge to the Future
- Hoosier Canoe & Kayak Club paddle
- Local artwork on display in the Nature Center
- Presentations throughout the day, including:
- History of McCloud Nature Park by Park Board president Paul Miner
- Parks Foundation of Hendricks County by Meghan Stritar
- Animal rehabilitation by Eagle Creek Park Naturalist Dawn VanDeman
- Astronomy by Indiana Astronomical Society
- Beekeeping basics by local beekeeper Terry Planke
