HCP&R Hiring Full-Time Park Manager

Hendricks County Parks & Recreation is currently accepting applications for a Full-Time Park Manager to work at least five (5) days a week and at least 35 hours per week for between $64,123/year and $75,438/year paid biweekly. The normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour unpaid lunch each day, but circumstances may require occasional work on weekends or outside of normal work hours.

The Park Manager is essentially “on-call” 24/7 in the event of any maintenance-related emergencies (burst water line, clogged septic system, etc.) at any of our parks and may also be called upon to work at some parks events and festivals on weekends.

This is a salaried (exempt) position, not an hourly position, meaning that if the Park Manager works more than 35 hours in a week, there is no overtime pay. However, Hendricks County Parks & Recreation leadership will do their best to mitigate overages within the same pay period so that the Park Manager does not regularly exceed 70 hours per pay period.

The Park Manager earns paid time off (PTO) each month in accordance with Hendricks County Government policies, and medical, vision, and dental insurance, along with additional benefits are available through the County for the employee and the employee’s family. There are also more than a dozen paid holidays throughout each year.

County-owned vehicles are available to the Park Manager for work-related usage (not take-home), and a County-owned cell phone will be provided. All tools, equipment, PPE, electronics, and a good amount of logoed apparel — both heat gear and cold gear — are also provided by Hendricks County Parks & Recreation, including up to a $100/year boot allowance.

This position will be primarily based at the W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park maintenance hub but will also involve working at McCloud Nature Park and along the portion of the Vandalia Trail that is operated by Hendricks County Parks & Recreation.

This position supervises the eight (8) maintenance personnel based at both McCloud and Gibbs and serves as the primary contact for all maintenance and repair operations throughout properties managed by Hendricks County Parks & Recreation. The Park Manager reports directly to the Superintendent of the Parks & Recreation Department.
