Monarch Tagging

September 28, 2019 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
McCloud Nature Park
8518 Hughes Road
North Salem

Ready to chase butterflies? Catch monarch butterflies fluttering around McCloud Nature Park before they head off to Mexico. Check in with the naturalists to record data on your catch and tag the monarchs’ wings. We’ll send the data to Monarch Watch, to contribute to their ongoing research.

Check in with the naturalists at the McCloud Nature Center for instructions before beginning.

Borrow one of our nets or bring your own. For extra fun, search for butterflies in our monarch prairie maze!

While tagging supplies last – tagging monarchs is subject to cancellation when we run out of sticker tags.

Catching butterflies is weather-dependent as they do not fly when the temperatures are low or when the wind is too strong.

This program is FREE to attend, appropriate for all ages (although only gentle hands may handle butterflies), and no advance registration required.
